Conrad arrived in Tampa as a baby after his father retired from the Air Force and returned to his hometown. Conrad attended Sacred Heart Academy, Saint Peter Claver, and Mary Help of Christians schools in Tampa before moving to Spring Hill, where he graduated from Springstead High School. After high school graduation, he attended Florida State University for a year before being nominated and accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Upon graduation from West Point, Conrad commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army as an infantry officer. Conrad served for over 24 years of active duty service in the Army and the Florida Army National Guard, with two deployments to Afghanistan, a deployment to Kuwait, service in Korea and Germany, and in coveted units like the 101st Airborne Division, Florida’s 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, and U.S. Africa Command, culminating with retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2022.

Along the way, Conrad married Dr. Brigette Schupay, nee' Barno, a Tampa native and social worker, and for the last 17 years, they have shared their journey while raising two daughters, who attend Hillsborough High School.

After military retirement, Conrad worked for over two years in the City of Tampa government before transitioning to the financial industry, where he currently serves as a Risk Manager. Despite this career shift, his commitment to public service—and to serving his community—never wavered. That calling ultimately led him to run for the State House of Representatives, District 63. Conrad’s dedication to duty and selfless service began at an early age and continues to guide every step of his life. Now, he is stepping forward to give back once again, and District 63—and the State of Florida—stand to benefit from his leadership and commitment.
